Investigation Launched into Melbourne Defense Company Attack as Terrorism Incident

Melbourne, August 5: An investigation into the attack on a defense manufacturing company in Melbourne is being treated as a terrorism incident, Australian authorities announced on Wednesday.

According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, the attack occurred on the morning of July 5, 2025, targeting ‘Lovit Technologies’ located in the northeastern suburbs of Melbourne. Several vehicles were set ablaze, and vandalism occurred on the premises.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP), the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), and Victoria Police issued a joint statement on Wednesday, confirming that the investigation is being conducted as a terrorism case.

These three agencies are collaborating under the initiative known as the ‘Victorian Joint Counter Terrorism Team’ (JCTT) to probe the attack. There are suspicions that the assault was carried out by anarchist and revolutionary ideologically driven far-left extremists.

The JCTT alleges that masked members of a group later posted a video online claiming responsibility for the attack. In the video, the alleged perpetrators expressed support for Palestine and explained how to create incendiary devices. It is believed that a similar device was used in the July 2025 attack.

Following the incident, an individual wearing a mask shared a video online, claiming to speak on behalf of the “Anonymous Cell.” He expressed support for Palestine and stated that Lovit Technologies was targeted because of its involvement in the Global F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program, which has been utilized by the Israeli military.

Authorities reported that the alleged attackers chose the company as a target because they believed it was part of the Australian Defence Force’s supply chain.

According to Lovit Technologies’ website, the company supports the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program, as well as several military aircraft production programs for Boeing.

The JCTT warned that if the alleged offenders are found guilty of involvement in terrorist activities, they could face life imprisonment.
