Investigation Launched After Woman Allegedly Assaulted at Guwahati Nightclub

Guwahati, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : Assam police have initiated an investigation following a disturbing incident at a nightclub in the Khanapara area of Guwahati. Reports indicate that bouncers at “The Locals Cafe and Lounge” allegedly stripped a woman of her clothes and assaulted her.

Authorities are working to determine the cause of the confrontation and how it escalated to such violence. The nightclub’s manager has been taken into custody, and police are questioning other staff members to gather more information.

The shocking event reportedly took place on Friday. Videos circulating on social media have raised concerns about the treatment of the woman inside the club. One video shows the woman lying on the ground without clothes, while two women, reportedly bouncers, appear to kick and hit her.

Several men are seen standing nearby, and another video captures a woman attempting to assist the victim. Initial reports suggest that the woman was thrown to the ground inside the club and subsequently moved to a location resembling a parking area or basement on the fourth floor.

Police are investigating what transpired just before the alleged assault and whether there was an argument between the woman and the bouncers prior to the incident. DCP East Ram Pegu confirmed that the nightclub manager is in custody for questioning, and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected.

The identity of the woman in the video has not yet been established. Reports indicate that a security guard claimed the altercation began after a female bouncer objected to the woman’s attire, leading to the woman allegedly attacking the bouncer with a bottle. However, these claims have not been independently verified and are part of the ongoing police investigation.

The club management has not issued a detailed public statement regarding the allegations. Police are expected to continue questioning staff and review the viral videos to understand the roles of those present during the incident.

The investigation will also seek to clarify why the woman was taken to a lower area from the fourth floor and what occurred during that time.
