Infosys Assures Minimal Impact from US PERM Suspension on Business Operations

New Delhi, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : Infosys, a leading player in the IT sector, has announced that the recent suspension of certain new and pending applications under the Permanent Labor Certification (PERM) program by the U.S. government is unlikely to have a significant impact on its business operations.

In a statement to the stock market, the company expressed awareness of the U.S. Department of Labor’s decision and offered to assist with any inquiries from agencies.

“We do not believe this suspension will materially affect the company’s operations. We will continue to share information in compliance with regulatory standards as needed,” Infosys stated.

The company emphasized its ongoing investments in building a strong local workforce, technology centers, and innovation hubs in the U.S., ensuring that its human resources strategy is not reliant on any single immigration program.

Infosys reiterated its commitment to its employees, clients, and U.S. communities, stating it will adhere to all applicable laws and regulations.

Last week, U.S. Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling announced that the administration had temporarily suspended PERM applications from several major global IT and technology firms. This decision was made in light of investigations into alleged visa fraud and employment-related issues affecting American workers.

The PERM program is a crucial component of the U.S. green card process, enabling companies to assist skilled foreign workers in obtaining permanent residency.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) also clarified its position on the matter, acknowledging awareness of the U.S. government’s announcement and stating it would comply with any directives issued by the Labor Department. TCS noted that its workforce strategy in the U.S. primarily focuses on recruiting local talent, with plans to hire an additional 15,000 local employees over the next five years across its 31 offices and delivery centers in the country.

The company mentioned that the number of its PERM applications had been in single digits over the past two years, indicating that the suspension would not likely affect its workforce strategy or customer services.
