Indore, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Indore police made a significant breakthrough in a drug trafficking case involving foreign nationals from Uganda and Nigeria. The arrests were made following the interrogation of a Nigerian woman, Immunal Joy, who had been detained on August 30 with 58 grams of narcotics.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Narendra Rawat, the Chandan Nagar police apprehended Joy, who had entered India on a seven-month visa. After her arrest, police analyzed her mobile phone and traced her connections to Mumbai’s Nala Sopara area. There, they arrested two accomplices: Nakijwe Kawuma from Uganda and Nakayzave Kawuma from Nigeria.
Immunal Joy had previously been arrested in Bengaluru in 2024 with 121 grams of narcotics. She was released on bail in July of this year, despite a court order barring her from leaving the country. However, she resumed her involvement in drug trafficking shortly thereafter.
Nala Sopara is home to many foreign nationals, including those from Uganda and Nigeria. The area has previously seen law enforcement actions against drug trafficking networks that operate under the guise of business and travel visas. Reports suggest that over 5,000 individuals from this community reside in Nala Sopara, raising concerns about ongoing criminal activities linked to international drug trafficking.
