Indigos London-Mumbai Flight Resumes Amid Middle East Crisis

New Delhi, March 9: India’s budget airline, Indigo, was unable to complete its Mumbai-London flight on March 8 due to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. The flight is now scheduled to resume on March 10 after the crew’s mandatory rest period.

Sources indicate that arrangements are being made for passengers who could not complete their journey. Hotel accommodations and visa assistance have been organized for affected travelers.

This disruption comes amid airspace restrictions in parts of the Middle East due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, which has impacted several international flights.

Previously, an Indigo flight from New Delhi to Manchester had to return after nearly seven hours in the air due to sudden airspace restrictions in the region.

According to the airline, flight 6E033 operating between Delhi and Manchester was forced to turn back at the last minute due to changing conditions in West Asia.

Indigo has also stated that some flights may take longer routes or alter their paths due to the current situation. The safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft remains the airline’s top priority.

Flight tracking platform FlightRadar24 highlighted this incident on social media, sharing tracking data that showed the aircraft changing course and returning to India. The platform noted that the aircraft made a U-turn near the border of Ethiopia and Eritrea before returning to Delhi.

This disruption has also affected investor sentiment. Shares of Indigo’s parent company, InterGlobe Aviation, fell nearly 4% to close at ₹4,236 on the BSE on Monday. During the session, the stock had dropped by as much as 8.37%.

Analysts have pointed out that rising crude oil prices due to the conflict are putting pressure on aviation stocks. Oil prices surged to nearly $110 per barrel due to production cuts by major producers and shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz caused by rising tensions.
