
Bratislava, August 22: The Indian women’s wrestling team added three more medals to their tally at the Under-20 World Championship in Slovakia. On the final day of the championship, the team secured one silver and two bronze medals.
Mansi Lathar faced a tough challenge in the 68 kg final against China’s Chenling Song, ultimately losing the match 1-2. Despite the defeat, she earned a silver medal for her efforts.
In the 57 kg category, Tanvi Gundesh Magdum clinched a bronze medal by defeating Canada’s Agnia Krakovska with a score of 10-4. Meanwhile, Komal also secured a bronze in the 59 kg category after beating Hungary’s Éva Balázs 5-2.
Earlier on Friday, rising star Kajal Dhokak made headlines by winning a gold medal in the 76 kg category. She showcased an impressive performance against China’s Jingru Sun, winning 7-0 without any errors, solidifying her status as one of India’s top prospects. Kajal has previously won titles at the 2024 Under-17 World Championship (69 kg) and the 2025 Under-20 World Championship (72 kg).
This year, Kajal also claimed gold at the Under-23 Asian Championship and the Budapest Ranking Series, proving her strength in international wrestling.
Tanvi Sharma competed in the 72 kg final against Japan’s Chisato Yoshida but had to settle for a silver medal after a tough match. In the 62 kg category, Savita faced Japan’s Sakura Onishi in the championship final, losing 2-12 by technical superiority, which also earned her a silver medal.
