Indian Stock Market Opens Steadily Amid Mixed Global Signals; Sensex Nears 73,700
The Indian stock market opened with slight gains, with Sensex approaching 73,700 amid mixed global cues and rising oil prices.

Mumbai, September 25 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian stock market opened on a positive note on September 25, 2026, showing slight gains. By 9:17 AM, the Sensex had risen by 151 points, or 0.20%, reaching 73,725, while the Nifty climbed 26 points, or 0.11%, to 23,091.
In early trading, the indices displayed mixed performance. Nifty Realty and Nifty Auto emerged as the top gainers. Other sectors like Nifty Private Bank, Nifty Financial Services, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Metal, Nifty India Manufacturing, and Nifty Media also recorded gains. Conversely, Nifty IT, Nifty Consumer Durables, Nifty Oil and Gas, and Nifty Commodities faced losses.
Large-cap stocks, along with mid-cap and small-cap shares, experienced a slight uptick. The Nifty Midcap 100 Index rose by 10 points to 61,001, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 Index increased by 5 points to 19,688.
In the Sensex pack, stocks such as L&T, Axis Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, Power Grid, SBI, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, Indigo, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Maruti Suzuki, HCL Tech, and Titan were among the gainers. On the downside, Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra, HUL, Eternal, NTPC, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, Trent, and ITC saw declines.
Globally, markets were mixed. Tokyo and Bangkok were in the green, while Australia and Jakarta traded in the red. The U.S. stock market closed lower on Thursday, with the Dow Jones dropping by 0.31%.
Analysts suggest that rising crude oil prices and persistent inflation have increased the likelihood of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates again in October. This scenario poses challenges for the market, reducing the chances for a significant rally. A market upturn may only occur if there is a substantial drop in crude oil prices. Investors looking for long-term opportunities may consider gradually purchasing fundamentally strong stocks, particularly large-cap shares, which are currently available at attractive prices.
