Amritsar Police Bust Drug and Illegal Arms Trafficking Network
Amritsar police have dismantled a drug and illegal arms trafficking network, arresting three suspects and seizing weapons and heroin.

Amritsar, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has successfully dismantled a network involved in the trafficking of drugs and illegal firearms. This significant operation was announced by Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on the social media platform X.
In his post, DGP Yadav stated, “Achieving a major breakthrough, the Amritsar police have exposed a network trafficking in drugs and illegal weapons. Three suspects have been arrested, and authorities seized 10 firearms, including three Glock 9mm pistols and seven .30 bore pistols, along with 1.022 kilograms of heroin.”
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were in contact with traffickers based abroad, who allegedly supplied illegal weapons that were then distributed to criminal elements within the region.
An FIR has been filed at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar. The police are continuing their investigation to identify other individuals linked to this network and to uncover further connections.
DGP Yadav emphasized the Punjab Police’s commitment to eradicating networks involved in the trafficking of illegal weapons and drugs to ensure a safer, drug-free Punjab.
Earlier, on October 15, the Counter Intelligence unit in Amritsar had also uncovered a gang involved in cross-border arms trafficking. In that operation, five suspects were arrested, and authorities seized an assault rifle (.30 bore), two hand grenades, 13 pistols—including four Glock pistols—and 25 cartridges.
The DGP noted that an FIR has been lodged at the SSOCC Amritsar, and investigations are ongoing to trace the trafficking network and identify all individuals involved.
