New Delhi, June 12: Indian shooting icon and esteemed coach Jaspal Rana passed away on Friday, leaving a significant impact on the sport. He was undergoing treatment at Max Super Specialty Hospital in Saket.
BJP leader Sudhanshu Mittal expressed his condolences, stating, “He brought glory to India through shooting and dedicated himself entirely to the sport. His commitment was unparalleled. I have just received the tragic news of his passing. I pray for the peace of his soul. Besides being an exceptional athlete, he was also a mentor and trainer for many athletes. He will always be remembered.”
Mittal added, “I believe this is a loss that may never be compensated. As a player, he faced numerous challenges and elevated the nation’s pride. His life was dedicated to shooting, and he continually fought for its advancement. He also nurtured many players who are now making India proud.”
He continued, “I pray that his soul finds peace. Alongside being a remarkable shooter, he was a coach and mentor to countless athletes, and his contributions will always be cherished.”
TMC MP Kirti Azad remarked, “Jaspal was a pride of our nation. He won numerous medals. I knew him personally; he called me ‘Bhaiya.’ Despite his immense success, he remained grounded. His academy provided free training to children. His passing is a great loss. May God give strength to his family and grant peace to his soul.”
Shooter Arisha Sharma, speaking about Jaspal Rana’s demise, said, “I came here for my shooting class today and learned that the session was canceled due to his passing. It is heartbreaking that he left us at such a young age. He was a tremendous source of inspiration.”
