New Delhi, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian Coast Guard has marked a significant achievement in enhancing maritime security by incorporating a domestically produced vessel into its fleet. On September 23, the ACV H-562, an air cushion vehicle, was officially inducted.
According to the Coast Guard, this vessel is the second air cushion vehicle manufactured in India. Its addition is expected to strengthen the Coast Guard’s operational readiness and enhance its capabilities in maritime domains, particularly in areas where access for conventional vessels poses challenges. The ACV H-562 has been entirely designed and built in India.
Defense experts believe that the inclusion of this vehicle showcases the country’s growing indigenous shipbuilding capabilities. It also promotes the development of essential platforms for maritime security. This annual professional forum is the highest platform for the Indian Coast Guard, attended by senior commanders from across the country.
During the three-day conference, critical issues related to strategic, operational, and administrative priorities were deliberated. The current state of the Coast Guard’s preparedness was reviewed, along with future requirements. There was a strong emphasis on promoting indigenous technologies and equipment to ensure that the Coast Guard meets its operational needs through domestically developed capabilities.
