Legal Expert Questions Notice for Imran Khan to Leave India
Senior lawyer Majid Memon raises concerns over the notice issued to actor Imran Khan to leave India by October 28.

Mumbai, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : Senior advocate Majid Memon has raised significant questions regarding the notice issued to actor Imran Khan, demanding he leave India by October 28. Memon argues that there should be no objection to a foreign national participating in peaceful protests. If Khan has indeed received such a notice, he could challenge it in court. However, Memon clarified that he lacks information about the specific reasons cited in the notice.
Memon emphasized that foreign nationals should not face backlash for participating in peaceful demonstrations. He noted that Khan was not leading a separate campaign against the government but was part of a larger protest alongside many others. Khan likely believes that the actions surrounding him are unjust, contrary to democratic principles, and harmful to the public interest. Memon questioned whether it is appropriate to ask someone to leave the country simply for attending a protest march.
The notice reportedly instructing Khan to leave India by the end of the month could be legally contested, according to Memon. He pointed out the importance of understanding the conditions under which Khan was permitted to stay in India. He referenced laws related to foreign nationals, including the Foreigners Act, immigration laws, and the Passport Act. If Khan violated specific conditions of his stay, legal action may be warranted. However, Memon stated that he does not have clarity on the actual circumstances surrounding Khan’s case or the basis for the notice.
Memon further remarked that detaining or arresting Khan, or issuing a notice against him, does not seem necessary at first glance. If there has been any violation, it must be substantiated by relevant facts and legal provisions. He reiterated that, according to media reports, Khan is expected to leave India by October 28, but without knowledge of the reasons stated in the notice, he cannot draw a definitive conclusion about its legal validity.
