Indian Boys Shine at Under-15 Asian Wrestling Championship, Claim Four Gold Medals

Pattaya, June 29: The Indian boys delivered an outstanding performance on the third day of the Under-15 Asian Wrestling Championship. They secured four gold medals and achieved a total of eight medals in the men’s freestyle competition. By the end of the third day, India had amassed a total of 21 medals in the championship, including 8 gold, 6 silver, and 7 bronze.

Prathamesh S Patil (52 kg), Naitik (62 kg), Keshav Harshad Chemte (75 kg), and Vivek Chauhan (85 kg) each won gold medals in their respective weight categories, making the day memorable for the Indian team. In addition to the four gold medals, India also earned one silver and three bronze medals, ensuring podium finishes in all eight weight categories on Monday.

In the finals, Patil achieved a remarkable 10-0 victory over Japan’s Daichi Matsumi based on ‘technical superiority’, while Chauhan showcased his skills by defeating another Japanese wrestler, Taisei Suzuki, 5-0. Naitik triumphed in an exciting match against Uzbekistan’s Ismoiljon Nazirozhanov, winning 8-6. Chemte secured a thrilling victory over Kazakhstan’s Yersultan Suleiman with a score of 11-10. However, Nitesh (57 kg) had to settle for silver after losing 2-10 to Japan’s Aiseb Gharehdaghi in the finals.

The Indian team won all three of their bronze medal playoff matches. Gautam (41 kg) pinned Hong Kong’s Shu Yan Sung for an 8-0 victory, Vansh Ahlawat (44 kg) defeated Tajikistan’s Yokub Dilshod Dilshojoda with a score of 12-4, and Armaan (68 kg) won against Turkmenistan’s Idris Melezayev by ‘technical superiority’ with a score of 10-0.
