Indian Boxers Shine on Day Two of Asian Under-15 and Under-17 Championships in Tashkent

Tashkent, May 5: Indian young boxers continued their impressive performance on the second day of the Asian Boxing Under-15 and Under-17 Championships 2026, securing multiple victories in both categories.

In the boys’ under-15 competition, Nongpokongba Meitei Oina (46 kg) achieved a remarkable 5:0 victory over Kazakhstan’s Abdurakhman Vushanlo, while Prashant (49 kg) also triumphed with a 5:0 win against Bakdaulet Akhmet.

Mohammad Yasar (58 kg) drew attention with his outstanding performance, winning his match against Kyrgyzstan’s Akbarjan Nabidjanov by RSC (Referee Stops Contest) in the first round. Nivesh Pal (54 kg) impressed as well, defeating Kazakhstan’s Adilat Galiyev 5:0, while Ranveer (66 kg) advanced to the next round after a walkover win against Taiwan’s Ying-Chieh Chen.

In other matches, Lilamani Singh Lukram (61 kg) lost to Uzbekistan’s Azizbek Agambarganov by RSC in the third round, and Mehul Rana (70 kg) faced defeat against Kazakhstan’s Ayan Baurzhan by RSC in the opening round.

In the boys’ under-17 competition during the evening session, Nivesh Pal (54 kg) continued his winning streak with another 5:0 victory over Kazakhstan’s Adilat Galiyev. Ranveer (66 kg) secured a win against Taiwan’s Ying-Chieh Chen via ABD. Lakshya Fogat (75 kg) showcased a strong performance, winning by RSC against Sri Lanka’s Ranchigodagama Arachchila in the first round.

However, Pradeep (63 kg) and Hanjra Jaideep Singh (80 kg) faced tough opponents and lost 0:5 to Uzbekistan’s Ruslan Saidullaev and Kazakhstan’s Alibek Alpamys, respectively.

Earlier, India’s under-17 female boxers had a stellar start to their campaign at the Asian Boxing Under-17 Championships 2026, achieving five impressive victories on the first day in Tashkent.

Rakhi (48 kg) led with a strong performance, defeating her Sri Lankan opponent by RSC in the first round. Maintaining this momentum, Ovi (50 kg) secured a unanimous 5-0 victory over Iran, while Mamta (52 kg) triumphed with another impressive 5-0 win against her Thai rival.
