Lucknow, July 23: The fourth season of the UP T20 League is set to kick off on August 14. The tournament will begin with a match between Kashi Rudras and the defending champions, Meerut Mavericks. Spanning 24 days, this tournament promises to be filled with excitement. All matches will take place in two major cities of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow and Kanpur.
This season marks the first time the UP T20 League will be held in two different cities. Discussing this achievement, Dr. Sanjay Kapoor, Chairman of the UP T20 League Governing Council, stated, “The UP T20 League has reached its fourth season, and this year is special as the tournament will be hosted in two major cities, Lucknow and Kanpur. We are expecting an incredible season that will be the biggest cricket festival in Uttar Pradesh to date. The UP T20 League is not just a league; it is a celebration of cricket, youth, talent, and the spirit of Uttar Pradesh.”
He added, “Hosting matches in two cities is a significant achievement for us. While there are logistical challenges, it allows us to bring the league closer to the people and expand its reach across the state. This year, matches will be played in Lucknow and Kanpur, while the auction will take place in Agra, meaning the UP T20 League is already connected to three major cities in Uttar Pradesh. Our vision is to continue expanding the league to more cities in the coming years, just as the IPL has done.”
Dr. Kapoor further emphasized the league’s growth, stating, “The UP T20 League is rapidly becoming one of the largest cricket leagues in the country after the IPL, and we want it to be a platform that showcases the incredible talent of Uttar Pradesh to the world. This league presents a significant opportunity for young cricketers. The broadcast will reach over 200 countries, providing players with unparalleled visibility.
