India vs Zimbabwe: Aakash Chopra Reveals Team Indias Playing XI for First T20

New Delhi, July 23: The first T20 match of the series between India and Zimbabwe is set to take place on Thursday, July 13, at the Harare Sports Club. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has announced his selection for Team India’s playing XI for this match.

In a video shared on his social media platform ‘X’, Chopra revealed his chosen lineup. He has placed his trust in 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryaanshi as an opening batsman, supported by Abhishek Sharma. Vaibhav made his T20 International debut against England but did not perform notably in the three matches.

Chopra has selected Ishan Kishan for the number three position, despite Kishan’s disappointing performance in the T20 series against England. The captain, Shreyas Iyer, has been given the responsibility of batting at number four, with Chopra expressing hope that Iyer will excel both as a captain and a batsman in this series.

Tilak Varma has been positioned at number five in the batting order. As all-rounders, Chopra has shown confidence in Shivam Dubey, Harsh Dubey, and Suryansh Shedge. The Indian team is particularly looking forward to better performances from Shivam in this series, while Harsh aims to make an impact if given the opportunity.

In terms of bowling, Chopra believes that Mayank Yadav will return to the playing XI. He has also selected Prince Yadav, who impressed with his bowling against England, to support Mayank. Ravi Bishnoi is the sole spinner included in the lineup. Notably, Chopra has not included Rinku Singh in his team, and Prabhsimran Singh has also failed to earn his trust.

Aakash Chopra’s selected playing XI for the first T20 match includes: Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Suryaanshi, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Harsh Dubey, Mayank Yadav, Prince Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi.
