Indian Army Conducts Tactical Training for CISF Personnel at Agartala Airport

Agartala, August 13: In a significant move to enhance coordination among various agencies and bolster regional security, the Indian Army has organized a two-week tactical training program for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel stationed at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala.

According to a spokesperson from the Ministry of Defence, this program was conducted under the ‘Military-Civil Fusion’ initiative, supervised by the Indian Army’s ‘Red Shield Division’ from July 27 to August 8. The comprehensive 13-day module was designed to improve operational readiness, foster better coordination, and strengthen the security of critical aviation infrastructure against evolving threats.

During the two-week training, expert instructors from the Indian Army provided rigorous practical and theoretical training to the participating CISF personnel. The modules included advanced access control, enhancing security perimeters, measures to prevent sabotage, counter-drone operations, rapid emergency response, and integrated strategies for safeguarding vital public and aviation assets.

At the closing ceremony, officials noted that this joint initiative successfully achieved its goal of merging the Army’s tactical combat expertise with the CISF’s aviation security responsibilities. The participating personnel demonstrated professional skills, physical endurance, and operational coordination throughout the training.

The spokesperson emphasized that such programs reflect the Army’s ongoing efforts to enhance its capabilities and strengthen joint operational capacity with Central Armed Police Forces.

With this improved training, the CISF unit stationed at MBB Airport is now equipped to handle modern threats, ensuring air security in the region. The Army and Assam Rifles have previously conducted similar training programs for CISF personnel.

The CISF is responsible for the security of most airports in the northeastern region, including MBB Airport in Agartala, which is the second busiest airport in the area after the popular Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati.
