Indian Ambassador Visits Mecca Ahead of Hajj 2026, Introduces High-Speed Train and Digital Services

Riyadh, April 27: The Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Suhail Khan, visited Mecca on April 26 to review the arrangements made for Indian Hajj pilgrims. He welcomed the first group of Indian pilgrims who arrived in Mecca via train from Medina.

The event was attended by India’s Consul General in Jeddah, Fahad Suri, and Consul Hajj, Sadaf Chaudhary, as reported by the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia on their social media account.

This year, a significant number of Indian travelers will utilize the Haramain High-Speed Railway for their journey between Mecca and Medina. The railway will also serve as a transit option between Jeddah and Mecca, making travel faster, safer, and more comfortable for pilgrims.

On April 18, the first group of Hajj 2026 pilgrims departed from Delhi Airport to Mecca, with Kausar Jahan, Chairperson of the Delhi Hajj Committee, present at the airport to see them off.

Several facilities have been introduced for this year’s Hajj, including the Hajj Facilitation App for enhanced digital services and the Hajj Facilitation Smart Band, which will aid in locating and assisting pilgrims.

Additionally, a shorter Hajj option of approximately 20 days has been introduced to provide more convenience for travelers.

The government has also increased the insurance cover for each pilgrim to approximately 625,000 rupees, enhancing financial and health security during the journey.

Around 60,000 pilgrims will benefit from the high-speed train service between Mecca and Medina, ensuring a swift and comfortable travel experience.

Moreover, real-time monitoring of pilgrims, a complaint resolution system, improved medical checks and health facilities, as well as better accommodation and transportation arrangements in Saudi Arabia have been established. Hotel-like accommodations are also being offered in Mecca.
