Ahmedabad: Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Defence and Aerospace, announced on Tuesday a collaboration with Italian aerospace giant Leonardo Helicopters to establish a world-class helicopter ecosystem in India. This initiative will integrate manufacturing, assembly, training, and support services all at one location.
Speaking about the partnership, Jeet Adani expressed confidence that India’s helicopter capabilities would become stronger and more sustainable for generations to come.
He highlighted the social significance of this initiative, stating, “Globally, helicopters play a crucial role in saving lives, providing hope, and delivering relief during critical times. Countries like Brazil and Japan have demonstrated how rotary-wing aircraft are vital for medical care, emergency response, and connecting communities.”
Adani further remarked, “As Indian cities expand and aspirations grow, the demand for such capabilities is increasing daily. It is time for our people to experience these services with the assurance that they are developed within an ecosystem made in India, for India.”
The partnership aims to focus on phased indigenization, enhanced maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities, as well as developing pilot training programs aligned with India’s military needs.
Jeet Adani noted that recent months have seen significant progress toward shaping a broad aviation and aerospace vision. He cited the collaboration with Embraer as a result of long-term strategic planning.
“By bringing these initiatives together, we are laying the foundation of an aviation ecosystem that will meet the country’s civil and defense requirements and contribute significantly to India’s aerospace ambitions,” he added.
Adani also expressed gratitude for the strong support and vision provided by the central government. He pointed out that the presence of the Defence Secretary and the Civil Aviation Secretary sends a powerful message about India’s commitment to building the necessary infrastructure, policies, and partnerships for a world-class aerospace future.
