India Loses T20 Series to Ireland by Just One Run

Belfast, June 28: The Indian cricket team faced a shocking defeat on Sunday, losing the second match of the T20 series against Ireland by just one run. This loss marks the first time in T20 history that India has lost a series to Ireland.

Batting first after losing the toss, Ireland scored 154 runs, losing 8 wickets in the process. They suffered an early setback at a score of 17 when Tim Tector was dismissed for just 5 runs. The team lost its second wicket with Ross Adair scoring only 16 runs. Captain Lorcan Tucker also fell cheaply, returning to the pavilion at a score of 48 with only 15 runs to his name.

Harry Tector stabilized the innings by partnering with Benjamin Kalitz for a fourth-wicket stand of 65 runs. Kalitz scored 37 runs off 23 balls, hitting 5 boundaries, while Harry Tector contributed 53 runs off 47 balls, including 6 boundaries. George Dockrell added 19 runs to the total. For India, Prince Yadav was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs, while Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dubey each claimed 2 wickets. Harshit Rana also chipped in with 1 wicket.

In response, India managed to score only 153 runs, losing 9 wickets in the process. The team lost both Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma for a combined total of just 1 run, with neither batsman getting off the mark. Captain Shreyas Iyer (10) and Ishan Kishan (12) followed them back to the pavilion, leaving the team in a precarious position at 35 runs.

Axar Patel and Tilak Varma attempted to rebuild the innings, adding 39 runs for the fifth wicket. Patel scored 14 runs before getting out. Tilak then formed a partnership of 35 runs with Shivam Dubey, but after that, the Indian team continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.

Tilak Varma scored 55 runs off 46 balls, hitting 1 six and 3 fours. Dubey contributed 20 runs off 16 balls, while Harshit Rana added 21 runs, but it was not enough to secure a win. For the hosts, Jay Moondra and Matthew Hollard each took 3 wickets, while Matthew Humphries and Harry Tector claimed 1 wicket each.

Earlier, India had lost the first match of the series at the same venue on June 26 by 34 runs. The Indian team will now head to England for a series consisting of 5 T20 matches and 3 ODIs.
