India Fully Prepared to Tackle Energy Crisis, Assures Union Minister Manohar Lal

Karnal, March 26: Union Minister Manohar Lal assured on Thursday that India is fully equipped to handle any potential energy crisis, despite global conflicts and geopolitical tensions posing threats to the supply of petroleum products and gas. He emphasized that there is no need for panic at this time.

Speaking to reporters, the minister highlighted that the issue of energy supply extends beyond India, becoming an increasing international concern, especially given the ongoing conflicts between several nations that could disrupt global supply chains.

“This is not just an issue for India; it is a global concern. A significant problem we are witnessing is that some countries are embroiled in war, which could severely impact the supply of petroleum products and gas, as we import them from those regions,” he stated.

However, the minister reassured that the current situation remains stable, with no immediate disruptions to supply. “Everything is functioning smoothly at the moment, and there are no problems,” he added.

Emphasizing preparedness, he quoted, “Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.” The government has taken extensive measures to ensure energy security in the face of unforeseen circumstances. “We must always be ready for any challenges that arise. Therefore, the Indian government has made all necessary preparations. Even if difficulties arise in the future, we will find a solution,” he asserted.

He noted that India currently has a sufficient stock of essential fuels and related resources. “We have ample stock at present, whether it is petrol, LPG, or other items we import. We are fully prepared from every aspect,” he said.

Linking this preparedness to the broader vision of self-reliance, Manohar Lal referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India). He explained that self-reliance means strengthening domestic capabilities to reduce dependence on external sources.

“This is because the Prime Minister has stated that we need to build a self-reliant India. Self-reliance simply means being fully capable and self-sufficient for our needs,” he explained.

He also shed light on the current trade arrangements between countries, noting that India imports and exports according to its needs. However, he stressed that the country is fully capable of facing any adverse or challenging situations.

“There is currently a practical exchange system between countries. We import some items from them, while they take some from us. But if conditions worsen in the future, we are fully equipped to handle any situation. There is no need to panic, as we are completely prepared to manage any challenges that arise,” he concluded.
