Kiev, August 10: Anjani Kumar, an officer from the 2003 batch of the Indian Foreign Service, has officially taken on the role of India’s new ambassador to Ukraine. On Monday, he presented his credentials to Oleksandr Mishenko, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Before his appointment as ambassador, Anjani Kumar served as Joint Secretary at the headquarters. Both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and maintaining regular political dialogue at all levels.
The Deputy Minister highlighted that India should play a crucial role in establishing just and sustainable peace in Ukraine and holding the aggressive nation accountable for its actions.
They also discussed the agenda for an upcoming high-level meeting, which includes the implementation of agreements made during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ukraine on August 23, 2024.
Special attention was given to enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation and strengthening humanitarian engagement. Both sides explored ways to accelerate bilateral economic cooperation and restore momentum in contacts between the business communities of both countries.
After the meeting, both parties agreed to remain actively engaged and improve Ukrainian-Indian relations in areas of mutual interest. Oleksandr Mishenko wished the Indian ambassador success in his diplomatic mission in Ukraine and hoped for significant achievements that would benefit both nations and their peoples.
Earlier on Friday, the Indian ambassador formally presented his appointment letter to the country’s President, Droupadi Murmu. Following the receipt of his credentials, Anjani Kumar departed for Ukraine with his family on Saturday.
In Ukraine, he will work to further strengthen bilateral relations between India and Ukraine while fulfilling various diplomatic responsibilities.
