Mumbai, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic incident unfolded in Mumbai’s Lalbagh area late Sunday night when an electric shock claimed the life of an eight-year-old girl. The accident occurred around 2 a.m. outside a Ganesh pandal, where a large crowd had gathered to celebrate the festival.
The incident took place near the Kalachowki Department Public Festival Mandal on Dattaram Lad Road. As the festivities were in full swing, a sudden surge of electricity spread through the pandal, leading to chaos among the attendees.
Five children, including two boys and three girls, were severely injured as they came into contact with the electric current. Emergency services quickly transported all five victims to Masina Hospital in Byculla. Unfortunately, doctors pronounced one girl dead upon arrival.
One of the injured girls was later transferred to Global Hospital in Parel for advanced treatment due to her critical condition. The remaining three victims are still hospitalized at Masina, where they remain in serious condition and are being monitored in the ICU.
In a separate incident earlier, a 25-year-old man from Jalgaon also lost his life near the Lalbaghcha Raja Ganesh pandal. Identified as Jaydeep Meghraj Nemade, he collapsed while waiting in line with friends. His uncle, Pramod Nemade, reported that there were no prior health issues, and Jaydeep had been in good health before the incident.
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with festival-goers rushing to help when the electric shock occurred.
