New Delhi: Experts have highlighted that the upcoming ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ will establish India as a major global hub for responsible and inclusive artificial intelligence (AI) development. This landmark event is expected to shape the future of AI in India and across developing nations worldwide.
The Ministry of Information Technology shared details about the summit during the 38th episode of ‘Digital India Ask Our Experts’ on Tuesday. Scheduled to take place from 16 to 20 February in the national capital, the summit will focus on three core pillars: People, Planet, and Progress. Dedicated working groups, called ‘Chakras’, have been formed to address these pillars effectively.
According to the ministry, recommendations and decisions emerging from these working groups will guide AI policies, skill development, and applications in India as well as other developing countries. The summit aims to foster innovation and inclusive growth through AI advancements.
Opportunities for Youth and Innovators
Experts emphasized that the summit will offer numerous opportunities for youth, startups, women innovators, and students from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Key initiatives include AI and data labs, global challenge discussions, idea presentation forums, and the ‘YUVAi Global Youth Challenge’, promoting active participation and innovation in AI.
India AI Impact Expo 2026 to Showcase AI Applications
The ministry also announced the ‘India AI Impact Expo 2026’, which will be held concurrently from 16 to 20 February at the India Pavilion. The expo will demonstrate how AI is transforming sectors like education, healthcare, agriculture, and governance. It will provide citizens a platform to engage with AI infrastructure, access to open data, healthcare datasets, and explore collaboration with startups and governance bodies.
During the sessions, participants raised questions related to AI infrastructure, open data access, healthcare datasets, startup participation, governance, inclusion of people away from technology, and online partnerships.
Government’s Vision for Inclusive AI
Experts assured that the India AI platform is being designed to be open, secure, and inclusive, enabling easy participation from the public, small groups, and government institutions alike. This initiative aims to democratize AI access and foster widespread collaboration.
Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged startups to harness AI for societal welfare during a meeting with Indian AI startups at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg. He emphasized that AI should be affordable, accessible to all, and transparent. The Prime Minister described his interaction with the youth as memorable and insightful and encouraged them to use AI for social good.
He also praised AI-based startups for their outstanding contributions across sectors like e-commerce, content research, and healthcare services, acknowledging their vital role in India’s growth story.
