
New Delhi, June 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the commitment of the NDA government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), to accelerate the development of the Northeast region over the past 12 years. He stated that the government has been working under the mantra of “Act East, Act Fast, and Act First” to harness the region’s vast natural and cultural wealth.
During the inauguration of the Tripura Global Pineapple Festival, the Prime Minister expressed that efforts have been made to showcase the region’s potential by leveraging its natural and cultural assets, aiming to enhance the prosperity of its people.
The three-day festival and exhibition commenced on Saturday at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. The event aims to highlight the quality and unique characteristics of Tripura’s pineapples and promote this premium fruit in both domestic and international markets.
Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha, along with the state’s Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath and the Minister of State for Northeast Development, Sukanta Majumdar, participated in the inaugural ceremony of the festival, which runs from June 27 to 29.
Chief Minister Saha shared the Prime Minister’s message on his official Facebook account. Modi expressed his delight at the inauguration of the Tripura Global Pineapple Festival 2026 in New Delhi.
He congratulated everyone involved in this commendable initiative to showcase the Tripura government’s efforts, the Ministry of Northeast Development, and the renowned ‘Queen Pineapple’ to a broader audience.
In his social media message, Modi highlighted that Tripura, enriched by nature, is famous for its horticultural products. The ‘Queen Pineapple,’ known for its unique aroma and sweetness, is a source of pride for the people of Tripura. Receiving a GI tag for this exceptional product is a significant recognition of the state’s rich agricultural heritage.
The Prime Minister further noted that the festival is commendable for bringing together farmers, entrepreneurs, exporters, researchers, industrialists, and policymakers on a common platform.
He stated that such collaboration would help strengthen value chains, expand access to new markets, encourage innovation, and create more opportunities for farmers. Modi expressed confidence that these efforts would improve livelihoods and establish Tripura as a leading global source of premium pineapples.
He concluded by sharing how deeply he has always been touched by the affection and love of the people of Tripura.
