Hyderabad, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : Hyderabad police have ramped up security measures ahead of the Ganesh festival, conducting a flag march in sensitive areas of the city on Thursday. This initiative comes in preparation for the Ganesh idol immersion procession scheduled for September 25.
The flag march aimed to maintain peace, communal harmony, and public safety while ensuring smooth traffic flow during the festivities. Led by Deputy Commissioner of Police J. Raghavendra Reddy from the Golconda zone, the march traversed key areas within the Gosha Mahal and Begum Bazaar police jurisdictions.
Participants included personnel from the Gosha Mahal and Begum Bazaar police stations, alongside members of the Rapid Action Force (RAF). The march commenced at the Namapally Exhibition Ground and moved through Patel Nagar, Darussalam, Chakanwadi, Lambigali, Ghode Ki Khber, Jhansi Chowrasta, and Jumeraat Bazaar T-Junction.
Inspector B. Shravan Kumar of the Gosha Mahal police station highlighted that the march covered densely populated and sensitive locations along the procession route. The initiative aims to raise awareness among the public about the importance of maintaining peace and order during the celebrations.
The police department also emphasized its preparedness for a safe and peaceful festival through the presence of senior officers, local police, and RAF members. They urged Ganesh pandal organizers and participants to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the department.
Organizers have been instructed to follow the designated routes and timings, avoiding any actions that could disrupt public convenience, traffic flow, or communal harmony.
Authorities have called on all citizens, religious organizations, Ganesh festival committees, and procession organizers to celebrate the festival in a peaceful, disciplined, and responsible manner. They also urged the public to report any suspicious activities, rumors, or law-and-order issues to nearby police officers or stations.
For the Ganesh idol immersion procession, approximately 20,000 police personnel will be deployed throughout Hyderabad. Prior to this, Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar conducted a joint inspection of the 19-kilometer immersion route from Balapur to Tank Bund with senior officials from various departments, ensuring arrangements for the safe passage of the idols.
The police have advised the public to be cautious of unverified information, rumors, and inflammatory content circulating on social media, urging them to rely solely on official statements from the police department and other relevant authorities.
