Husband Allegedly Murders Wife After Dispute Over Serving Food in Morena, Madhya Pradesh

Morena, June 16: A tragic incident unfolded in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, where a 35-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband while she was on her way to file a complaint at the police station.

The victim has been identified as Nisha Jatav. On Monday evening, she was attacked with an iron rod near a field in the village of Sahariyan Ka Pura, located in the Dimni police station area.

Nisha sustained severe head injuries and died at the scene. The accused, her husband Dharmendra Jatav, fled after the incident and remains at large.

According to police reports, the fatal attack occurred following a domestic dispute between the couple on Tuesday. Around 2 PM, an argument over serving food escalated into violence.

Police stated that Dharmendra allegedly assaulted his wife at their home. Distressed, Nisha decided to report the attack to the Dimni police station. However, before she could reach the station, Dharmendra followed her and confronted her near a field. He then struck her on the back of the head with the iron rod, leading to her death.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Bhadauria confirmed that Nisha was attempting to seek help from the police when she was attacked.

After the post-mortem on Tuesday, Bhadauria informed the press that preliminary investigations indicated Nisha was heading to the police station to report the assault by her husband. The accused pursued her and attacked her with the iron rod, resulting in her death. Efforts to apprehend him are ongoing.

The incident came to light after Nisha’s cousin informed her family and the police. A police team arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to Morena District Hospital for post-mortem.

Jitendra Dohre, the officer in charge of Dimni police station, noted that Nisha’s body bore multiple injury marks, indicating prior physical abuse before the fatal attack.

Dohre added that the head injury from the iron rod was lethal, and there were several signs of physical violence on her body. A murder case has been registered, and the investigation is underway.

Police revealed that Nisha had been married to Dharmendra for approximately 15 years, and they had four children—one son and three daughters.

Family members reported that Nisha had been a victim of domestic violence multiple times, and her husband’s family had previously attempted to harm her.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the accused, and further investigations are ongoing.
