Honor Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design Phone Teased Ahead of Launch

Honor has given a subtle indication of its upcoming ultra-premium smartphone, the Honor Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design. Although an official launch date and detailed specifications have not yet been announced, recent reports show the device is nearing its release.

The initial clue came from Honor’s R&D engineer Cao Gong, who shared that he is testing a new device. This post was further shared by another Honor Performance Optimization R&D engineer, A Yong, who confirmed the name Honor Magic 8 RSR.

This confirms that the phone is in advanced testing stages. The Magic 8 RSR is expected to be positioned above the Magic 8 Pro, serving as the brand’s most sophisticated flagship for the year, with a strong emphasis on design, performance, and camera capabilities.

The major highlight of this model is its industrial design. As indicated by its name, the phone is a collaboration with Porsche Design, renowned for its influence in automotive and product aesthetics. This partnership is anticipated to give the Magic 8 RSR a unique look, distinguishing it from the standard Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro models through premium materials and an exclusive finish.

On the technical front, the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design is likely to feature a rare 24GB RAM configuration, placing it among the most powerful Android devices expected in 2026. It may be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, the same processor used in other Magic 8 models.

Photography is another focus area. The phone is reportedly equipped with a new 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50R LOFIC primary camera that includes a large 1/1.3-inch sensor. With a dynamic range of up to 110dB, this setup is expected to enhance low-light photography and overall image depth.

Additional features are said to include a 6.71-inch 1.5K LTPO display, a 7,200mAh battery, 120W wired fast charging, wireless charging, satellite connectivity, and advanced security options such as 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanning and 3D face recognition. The phone is expected to carry IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance and will be available in Slate Gray and Moonstone colours.
