Jaipur, 30 July — The Rajasthan High Court has sought an explanation from the concerned Judicial Magistrate and Presiding Officer Balakrishna Katara of ADJ Court No. 6, Metropolitan-II, for denying bail to two women in a case involving bailable offences. The court has asked both judicial officers to submit their clarification within two weeks. Along with this, the High Court has ordered the release of the two accused women on bail.
A single bench of Justice Anil Kumar Upman issued this order while accepting the bail applications of Meetu Pareek and Indu Verma.
Petitioners’ Advocate Argues Wrongful Detention
In the petition, advocate Rajesh Maharshi argued before the court that the women had been falsely implicated and are innocent. He stated that the charges under which the police have found the offence to be proven are bailable in nature. Despite this, the Judicial Magistrate failed to consider this while sending them to judicial custody. He also pointed out that the Presiding Officer of ADJ Court No. 6 had rejected their bail applications on 24 June.
No Past Criminal Record
It was further stated that the petitioners have no prior criminal record and the trial is expected to take a long time. Therefore, the petitioners should be granted bail.
State Government Opposes Bail
On the other hand, the state government opposed the bail plea, stating that the offence was proven against the petitioners. After hearing arguments from both sides, the High Court ordered the release of the petitioners on bail and directed the lower court officials to submit their explanation.
Accused Arrested for Cheque Extortion Case
It is noteworthy that Chitrakoot police had arrested the two women for allegedly threatening a property dealer with a false rape case and taking a cheque worth three lakh rupees. Both accused had been in judicial custody since 16 June 2025.
