Rewa, August 21: Continuous heavy rainfall over the past three days in Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh, has severely disrupted daily life. The administration has accelerated relief efforts, relocating over 4,000 affected individuals to relief camps.
On Friday, District Collector Narendra Suryavanshi and Superintendent of Police Kurukaran Singh, accompanied by revenue officials, inspected several affected areas in the Tyothar tehsil to assess the ground situation.
During the inspection, officials evaluated waterlogging and reviewed rescue, relief, and other arrangements for the impacted residents. The district administration reported that Tyothar tehsil has been the hardest hit, with over 300 villages affected by flooding.
Local BJP MLA Siddharth Tiwari also participated in the inspection and met with the Collector and SP. So far, more than 4,000 individuals affected by heavy rainfall and flooding in Rewa district have been moved to relief camps, where food, clean drinking water, and medical facilities have been arranged.
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla also inspected various relief camps, engaging with displaced residents and reviewing arrangements. He instructed officials to ensure the immediate drainage of water from affected areas and to expedite rescue and relief operations.
He urged the administration to maintain a sufficient supply of food and clean drinking water in the relief camps and to ensure medical facilities are available. Administrative teams have been directed to remain vigilant and respond promptly to any emergencies.
On Friday, a tragic incident occurred in the Mangawan tehsil, where 78-year-old farmer Budhsen Mishra died after falling into deep water. According to police, Mishra had left home to find his buffalo that had wandered off. While passing near a well, he slipped due to the rain and fell into the deep water.
