Mumbai Police Seize Hydro Cannabis Worth ₹66 Lakh, Two Arrested

Mumbai police seized hydro cannabis worth ₹66 lakh and arrested two suspects during a routine patrol in Andheri.

Mumbai, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : Mumbai police’s anti-narcotics team has made a significant drug bust in the MIDC area, seizing 1 kilogram and 896 grams of hydro cannabis valued at approximately ₹66.36 lakh. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.

The operation took place on Thursday evening at 7:50 PM. Police sub-inspector Ranjit Gondakupse and his team were on patrol when they noticed two young men behaving suspiciously near the J.K. Industrial Estate on Paper Box Road in Andheri East.

Upon seeing the police, the suspects attempted to hide a red plastic bag they were carrying and tried to flee the scene. The officers apprehended them on suspicion. Initially evasive in their responses, the suspects eventually confessed that the bag contained hydro cannabis.

A search revealed the substantial amount of hydro cannabis in their possession. The arrested individuals have been identified as 28-year-old Omkar Rajendra Pawar from Bhakarwadi, and 22-year-old Piyush Madhukar Ghongde from Vathar Station, both hailing from Satara district.

The MIDC police have registered a case against the duo. Preliminary investigations indicate they traveled from Satara to Mumbai to sell the hydro cannabis. Authorities are now probing further links within this network.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Devn Bharti, Additional Commissioner Dr. Manojkumar Sharma, and other senior officials, with the team led by Senior Inspector Dhananjay Nair and Inspector Sunil Kande, along with police constables involved in the arrest.
