New Delhi, March 21: A significant portion of Uttar Pradesh is currently under dark clouds, indicating unstable weather conditions with no immediate relief in sight.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) based in Lucknow, several districts may experience heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds on Saturday. Officials have warned that these conditions could severely disrupt daily life.
Districts including Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, and Ambedkar Nagar are likely to see intense rainfall. The eastern and Terai regions may also experience frequent lightning, thunder, and rapidly moving cloud systems, raising safety concerns.
Previously, the IMD issued a red alert for several areas, warning of severe storms accompanied by hail and winds reaching speeds of 50-60 km/h. Districts under this alert include Raebareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Ayodhya, Basti, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki, and Gonda. These areas may face hailstorms, power outages, and potential damage to crops and temporary structures.
An orange alert has also been issued for districts such as Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi), Varanasi, Jaunpur, Pratapgarh, Azamgarh, Sant Kabir Nagar, Hardoi, Sitapur, Bahraich, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Pilibhit. Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and winds between 40-60 km/h is expected in these regions.
Due to fluctuations in weather, temperatures across the state are showing irregular changes. In central and eastern regions, including Lucknow, there has been a slight increase of 1-2 degrees Celsius, while northwestern districts have recorded a drop of up to 5 degrees Celsius due to rain and strong winds. Local administrations in affected districts are on high alert and have been instructed to remain prepared for emergency responses.
