Mumbai, September 16 (Patrika English News). Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Dattatraya Bharne on Tuesday said that heavy rainfall over the past two months has damaged crops across 17,85,714 hectares in 30 districts of the state. The government is conducting field assessments (panchanamas) and will soon provide financial assistance to affected farmers.

Speaking to the media after a review meeting at Mantralaya, Bharne said that the downpours in August and September have impacted 195 tehsils across the state, with major losses reported in kharif crops. Crops including soybean, maize, cotton, urad, tur, moong, vegetables, fruits, bajra, sugarcane, onion, jowar, and turmeric have been badly affected.
The highest crop losses were reported in:
Nanded – 7,28,049 hectares
Washim – 2,03,098 hectares
Yavatmal – 3,18,860 hectares
Dharashiv – 1,57,610 hectares
Akola – 1,77,466 hectares
Solapur – 47,266 hectares
Buldhana – 89,782 hectares
Other affected districts include Hingoli, Parbhani, Amravati, Jalgaon, Wardha, Sangli, Ahmednagar, Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Latur, Dhule, Ratnagiri, Chandrapur, Satara, Nashik, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, Gadchiroli, Raigad, Nagpur, and Pune.
The minister added that in some districts, compensation has already been disbursed where the panchanama process was completed. For remaining areas, assessments are being carried out on a war footing, and the state government is working to ensure timely relief for farmers.
