Raipur, Aug 11 (HS) — After a week of subdued monsoon activity, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall across various districts of Chhattisgarh over the next three days, offering relief from the prevailing heat and humidity. However, the department has also cautioned about possible waterlogging in low-lying areas and disruption in rural connectivity.

According to IMD scientist H.P. Chandra, moderate rainfall was recorded in many parts of South Chhattisgarh during the past 24 hours, while light to moderate showers occurred in other parts of the state. Durg registered the highest maximum temperature at 34.6°C.
In the past 24 hours, rainfall was recorded as follows: Kota 6 cm, Chhotedongar 5 cm, Sukma 4 cm, Sonhat 4 cm, Gadiras 3 cm, Janakpur Bharatpur 2 cm, Antagarh 2 cm, Rengakhar Kala 2 cm, Kohkameta 2 cm, Makdi 2 cm, Kawardha 2 cm, Sariya 1 cm, Bade Bacheli 1 cm, Katekalyan 1 cm, Komakhan 1 cm, Barsur 1 cm, Chhindgarh 1 cm, Bakawand 1 cm, Kutru 1 cm, Narayanpur 1 cm.
The IMD has issued heavy rainfall alerts for Raipur, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, Durg, Balod, Balrampur, Ramanujganj, Koriya, Surajpur, Surguja, Manendragarh, and Jashpur, among others. Many areas are also expected to experience strong winds and thunderstorms, with a possibility of lightning strikes during the forecast period.
