Jhajjar, July 15: Congress MLA Geeta Bhukkal has responded to the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple and the claims made by Haryana’s Chief Minister regarding the BJP’s return to power in 2029. She accused the BJP government of taking matters related to religious faith lightly while failing to address critical issues such as law and order, education, and employment in the state.
In reaction to former minister Om Prakash Dhankhar’s comments downplaying the Ram Temple donation incident, Bhukkal described his statement as deplorable and deeply concerning. She emphasized that this is not just a simple theft but a serious issue tied to the religious sentiments of millions of devotees. The incident has sparked widespread discussions across the country, with many questioning how the donations made by devotees are being utilized. She called for a fair investigation into the matter, suggesting that if it is serious enough to warrant the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT), it should be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Bhukkal also demanded that the inquiry be conducted under the supervision of a current Supreme Court judge to ensure transparency and accountability.
Bhukkal noted that this incident has shaken people’s faith. Previously, many devotees would visit Ayodhya to seek blessings at the Ram Temple and Hanumangarhi, but now doubts are creeping in, causing some to hesitate in making donations. She has visited the temple multiple times and has witnessed the grandeur of its construction. Devotees typically donate according to their faith, and both domestic and international communities are expressing concern about the safety of their contributions.
Regarding Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s assertion of a BJP government in 2029, Bhukkal stated that the reality in Haryana starkly contrasts with the government’s claims. The state is lagging in several crucial areas, with rising crime rates, particularly against women, school and college closures, and increasing unemployment. Many young people are resorting to illegal means to seek opportunities abroad. The ongoing incidents of paper leaks are affecting the future of the youth, and the quality of education is declining, with neighboring states like Punjab and Delhi surpassing Haryana in this regard.
The former education minister criticized the government over alleged paper leak cases in national examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). She pointed out that if security agencies are needed to conduct exams, yet leaks still occur, it raises serious concerns. The education minister must take responsibility and provide answers. The recurring scandals and the deteriorating quality of education question the government’s policies.
Bhukkal also referred to alleged bank and paddy scams, demanding impartial investigations into these matters. She noted that the government has not taken the issues raised by Congress in the assembly seriously. Several officials’ names have surfaced in the investigations, and in some cases, pressure has led to tragic outcomes. She urged the government to ensure fair investigations into all these issues. On the SYL issue, she questioned why BJP leaders do not openly discuss Haryana’s rights and water concerns when they visit Punjab. She advised the Chief Minister to prioritize the interests of Haryana.
Bhukkal claimed that discontent within the BJP is rising. On several occasions, the Chief Minister’s programs have faced opposition from party leaders. The people of Haryana are now demanding answers on development, employment, education, law and order, and farmers’ issues, stating that mere political claims will not suffice. If the government fails to address the public’s core issues, the electorate will respond democratically in the future.
