Hamilton Celebrates Historic Pole Position at Mexican Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton expresses joy after securing pole position at the Mexican Grand Prix, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Mexico City, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Lewis Hamilton was visibly elated after clinching pole position for Ferrari at the Mexican Grand Prix on November 1, 2026. The seven-time world champion ended a lengthy wait for this achievement, with his last pole position coming during the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix.
At 41, Hamilton outperformed his former teammate George Russell, while his current Ferrari partner Charles Leclerc secured third place at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. After achieving his 105th career pole position, Hamilton struggled to find the words to express his emotions.
“Wow! It feels amazing. I’m really happy. Honestly, I have no words,” he said shortly after the session. “This weekend has been quite tough and challenging. Obviously, we had an issue with the ‘wreck’ during FP1, and then we faced an engine-related problem yesterday that set us back. I didn’t get a chance to do a long run, but we worked hard on the car setup throughout the weekend.”
He added, “We’ve put in a lot of effort and learned a lot from the last race. However, the competition is very close. For instance, I didn’t get to complete my lap early in Q2 because the other drivers had new tires.”
Hamilton previously secured pole position in Mexico in 2016, making this the 22nd circuit where he has achieved pole more than once. Additionally, he became the oldest driver to earn pole position since Mario Andretti at the 1982 Italian Grand Prix.
Reflecting on this remarkable record, Hamilton stated, “If you have the desire to achieve something, you will find a way. Honestly, it’s all a mental game. We all experience pain or discomfort at times, but fortunately, I don’t. I often take ice baths to keep myself young and fit. I love my job, and that passion remains strong. I wake up every day thinking about it and dream about it. I receive wonderful support from around the world, which motivates me to keep pushing forward. I hope they are happy with my performance today, and I also hope to meet their expectations tomorrow.”
