Gwalior, June 15: A serious case of blackmail has emerged involving the superintendent of Gwalior Central Jail, Vidit Sarvaiya. He reported that he has been targeted through WhatsApp calls, chats, and alleged video clips. Following this, he lodged a complaint with the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and the jail headquarters, suspecting a suspended jail guard and a former inmate.
According to reports, Sarvaiya received WhatsApp calls and messages from unknown mobile numbers. The callers attempted to pressure him by sending purported videos from inside the jail, demanding money in the process. In response to this alarming situation, both the jail administration and police have initiated an investigation.
In an interview, Sarvaiya stated, “The videos sent to me could be from inside the jail, but we are investigating who created them and how they were leaked. Initially, two individuals are under suspicion: a suspended jail guard named Pawan Sharma and a former inmate, Rishpal Baghel.”
He further explained, “The individuals suspected are the same ones demanding money. I have reported this to both the police and the jail headquarters. The day after the money demand was made, I informed senior officials about the entire situation.”
Sarvaiya indicated that the videos might have been deliberately orchestrated. While no explicit sensitive activities were visible in the footage, the emergence of such videos raises serious questions about security protocols within the jail. If any officer or staff member is found to be involved during the investigation, strict action will be taken against them. He also mentioned that he will personally oversee the investigation.
Meanwhile, Alok Parihar, the station officer of Bahodapur, confirmed, “We have received a complaint from the jail superintendent. The complaint alleges blackmail activities through WhatsApp calls from two unknown numbers. The police are conducting a technical investigation to identify the callers.”
