Chandigarh, March 10: Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi visited Haryana on Tuesday, where he met with senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rohtak. The discussions focused on organizational preparations ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
Sanghvi shared photos of his visit on the social media platform X, highlighting his meetings with various party leaders at the BJP’s state office in Rohtak.
Attendees included Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, state BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli, senior party leader and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, along with state government ministers and party officials.
According to Sanghvi, the discussions centered on organizational matters related to the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Party leaders noted, βThe meeting reviewed the necessary preparations for coordination within the party and the election process. It also provided an opportunity for leaders to exchange strategies related to the elections.β
This visit comes shortly after the BJP appointed Sanghvi as the central observer for the Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana.
In addition to Sanghvi’s appointment, the BJP has announced observers for other states where Rajya Sabha elections are set to take place. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra have been appointed as observers for Bihar, while Maharashtra Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has been assigned the same responsibility in Odisha.
Under this arrangement, observers are tasked with overseeing coordination and organizational tasks related to the election process in their respective states.
The Election Commission has scheduled the biennial Rajya Sabha elections for March 16, which will involve voting in several states where the terms of current members are set to expire in April.
These elections will select new representatives for the upper house from Bihar, Haryana, Odisha, Assam, and other states, with members of the respective state assemblies casting their votes.
The appointment of observers by the BJP is part of the organizational preparations ahead of the elections, as several vacancies in the Rajya Sabha will need to be filled due to the expiration of current members’ terms next month.
