Grand Inauguration of Deeg Festival 2026 Celebrates Heritage and Culture

Deeg, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : The Deeg Festival 2026 was inaugurated on Saturday in the historic town of Deeg, Rajasthan, organized by the state tourism department in collaboration with the district administration. The event marked the beginning of a festive atmosphere throughout the city.

District Collector Mayank Manish flagged off the grand procession from the iconic water palaces. The parade featured vibrant performances by local Rajasthani artists, traditional attire, and a captivating procession of women carrying water pots, drawing the attention of onlookers.

Starting at the water palaces, the procession passed through the main markets of the city before returning to its origin. It provided a lively glimpse into Rajasthani folk culture, with performers showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage. The women’s pot-bearing procession highlighted the local traditions, conveying a message of preserving Deeg’s historical identity and cultural practices.

During the inauguration, Collector Mayank Manish emphasized Deeg’s unique identity, known for its historical heritage, stunning water palaces, distinctive architecture, and rich cultural traditions. Events like the Deeg Festival play a crucial role in promoting tourism and bringing broader recognition to this heritage. Such celebrations also encourage local folk art and cultural traditions.

The festival will feature various activities at the city fairground, including kabaddi, moustache competitions, tug-of-war, and Radha-Krishna costume contests, providing local talents with a platform to showcase their skills.

One of the highlights will be the ‘Colors of Deeg’ event at the historic Deeg Palace, where colorful fountains will enhance the palace’s beauty. Additionally, the ‘Shining Deeg’ program will include a diya lighting ceremony, illuminating the historic town.

The cultural evening will feature performances by Rajasthani folk artists, offering music, traditional dance, and vibrant displays to entertain the audience. This event aims to elevate Deeg’s historical heritage on the tourism map while promoting local art, culture, and traditions.
