New Delhi, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : A recent fact sheet released by the government reveals that approximately 1.275 million appointment letters have been issued through the National Employment Fair initiative. Launched in October 2022, this program aims to create 1 million government jobs and has evolved into a nationwide recruitment drive.
The fact sheet indicates that selected candidates have assumed roles in multiple departments, including the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Posts, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The recruitment process is being executed in mission mode, with various ministries and departments making concerted efforts to fill approved vacancies. This initiative is managed through established recruitment agencies such as the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), and Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).
Notably, the National Employment Fair extends beyond mere recruitment. It integrates skill development, career counseling, and entrepreneurship support, aiming to connect youth with diverse employment opportunities.
According to the government, these fairs play a crucial role in facilitating direct communication between job seekers and employers, enhancing the alignment between skills and employment. This initiative has contributed to creating a skilled workforce and providing young individuals with opportunities to participate in public service and nation-building.
The inaugural employment fair distributed over 75,000 appointment letters across 50 locations nationwide. Since then, the campaign has consistently expanded, accelerating the government recruitment process.
The fact sheet emphasizes that this initiative has not only increased the pace of recruitment in the public sector but also offered youth a pathway to start careers in government service and contribute to national development.
Employment fairs are organized with the support of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), and Prime Minister’s Skill Centers (PMKK). Private sector companies are also involved to provide more job opportunities to qualified candidates.
By bringing together employment, skill development, career counseling, and entrepreneurship opportunities, the National Employment Fair plays a vital role in connecting youth with jobs and fostering a skilled workforce in the country.
During the 20th National Employment Fair held on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the event via video conferencing and distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to selected youth across various government departments and organizations.
