Government Assures No Increase in Fuel Prices Amid West Asia Tensions

New Delhi, April 28: The central government announced on Tuesday that there are currently no plans to raise petrol and diesel prices. Rising tensions in West Asia have impacted the global oil market, but the government is working to alleviate public concerns.

Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, stated during an inter-ministerial briefing that fuel prices will remain stable, and the government is closely monitoring the situation.

She reassured citizens that LPG, petrol, and diesel are sufficiently available, and there is no need for panic.

Sharma acknowledged that the ongoing crisis in West Asia has affected imports of crude oil, LPG, and piped natural gas (PNG). However, the government has taken necessary measures to address these challenges.

She confirmed that 100% supply of domestic LPG and PNG for consumers has been ensured. Additionally, the supply of CNG used for transportation is fully operational.

Although the supply of commercial LPG was somewhat affected, it has now been restored to nearly 70%. Priority is being given to essential sectors such as hospitals and schools.

Furthermore, critical industries like pharmaceuticals, steel, seeds, and agriculture are also receiving priority to prevent any significant issues.

To assist those in need, the supply of 5 kg LPG cylinders has been nearly doubled, especially benefiting migrant workers.

This reassurance from the government comes at a time when uncertainty in West Asia is causing fluctuations in the global oil market.

Officials have stated that they are continuously monitoring the situation to maintain stability in fuel supply and prices across the country.
