New Delhi, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : A shocking gang rape incident has been reported near the Kalka Ji Temple in New Delhi, involving a 17-year-old girl. Authorities have arrested one suspect following a police encounter, while efforts are ongoing to locate two additional suspects.
According to police reports, a PCR call was received at 8:45 PM on Monday regarding a rape incident near the Kalka Ji Temple and ISKCON Temple. Police teams quickly arrived at the scene to investigate.
The victim, accompanied by another 17-year-old friend, had visited the temple for darshan. Afterward, they entered the nearby Aastha Kunj Park around 7 PM. At approximately 7:30 PM, three men, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, approached them. The assailants claimed to be police officers and intimidated both minors. The victim reported that one of the men grabbed her friend and sexually assaulted her.
Upon receiving the report, Delhi police registered a case and initiated an investigation. They reviewed nearby CCTV footage and employed technical surveillance to identify the suspects.
Delhi police confirmed that one of the accused, identified as Asif, was apprehended after a brief gunfight with the police. He sustained injuries during the encounter and has been hospitalized for treatment.
A senior police official stated, “Asif has been captured after the encounter, during which he was shot. The search for the other two suspects continues.” The victim has undergone a medical examination and is receiving counseling. Given the severity of the case, specialized teams have been formed to locate the remaining suspects.
