Gwalior, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : A notorious criminal was shot dead by a group of assailants in Gwalior on September 23. Authorities suspect that the murder may be linked to an old rivalry stemming from another criminal’s death.
The victim, identified as Chhotu Rajawat, was riding his motorcycle with friends when the attackers intercepted him near a railway overbridge on Mela Road. According to police reports, two of the assailants, identified as Deenu and Hemu, grabbed Rajawat by the collar and pulled him off his motorcycle. They then shot him multiple times in the chest and head at close range.
Rajawat died at the scene, and the attackers fled while brandishing their weapons. Police arrived shortly after the incident was reported.
Based on statements from Rajawat’s companions, an FIR has been filed against five individuals: Hemu Sikrwar, Deenu Sikrwar, Ranu, Rajveer, and Ajit.
CSP Nagendra Singh Sikrwar and Station House Officer Shailendra Bhargav arrived at the crime scene along with other officers. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Sujawal Bagga stated that initial investigations suggest the murder is related to a previous feud. Multiple teams have been formed to conduct raids at potential hideouts of the suspects.
Rajawat was previously incarcerated in connection with the murder of Bhola Sikrwar and had recently been released on bail. He faced over ten criminal charges.
Investigators are exploring the possible connections between the two murders. Bhola Sikrwar was killed a year ago after his brother Deenu allegedly challenged gangster Bunty Bhadoriya on social media. It is believed that Bhadoriya targeted Bhola when he could not locate Deenu. During the investigation of Bhola’s murder, police alleged that Rajawat had informed Bhadoriya about Bhola’s whereabouts, leading to his own arrest later.
Police teams are actively searching for the five suspects named in the FIR. ASP Bagga confirmed that the suspects have been identified and are being pursued across various locations. Authorities are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder and any potential involvement of others in the attack.
