Free Entry for Women Fans at India-Zimbabwe T20 Series in Raipur

Women cricket fans will enjoy free entry at the India-Zimbabwe T20 series in Raipur, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

Raipur, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian women’s cricket team is set to face Zimbabwe in a three-match T20 series at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur, with the first match scheduled for Friday at 7 PM. The Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association has announced that female cricket fans will be granted free entry to the stands during the matches.

This initiative follows a suggestion from Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, who proposed waiving ticket charges for women after meeting with officials from the state cricket association. The idea emerged when the association invited the Chief Minister to watch the matches.

In response to the CM’s recommendation, the association decided to allow free entry for women spectators. “The Chief Minister suggested free tickets for female fans during his invitation to the state association for the T20 match,” an official stated.

The timing coincides with Navratri, promising to enhance the festive atmosphere in Raipur by encouraging more female spectators to attend the matches.

A delegation from the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association, including President Mohan Das, Director Vijay Shah, former President Mukul Tiwari, and Secretary Vintesh Agarwal, visited the Chief Minister to extend the invitation.

The association has also shared this information on its social media platforms, urging female fans to come to the stadium and support the Indian team. With this decision, a significant turnout of women cricket fans is anticipated, marking Raipur’s first hosting of an international women’s match.

This series is particularly historic as it marks the beginning of Smriti Mandhana‘s journey as the full-time captain of the Indian women’s team. Additionally, it is notable that the Indian team will face Zimbabwe for the first time, with the visiting team scheduled to play three T20 matches and three One Day Internationals during this tour.
