Former Cricketer Lance Klusener Predicts Indias Next Superstar in Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Lance Klusener identifies Vaibhav Suryavanshi as Indias future cricket superstar, emphasizing the need for new leadership post-Kohli and Rohit.
New Delhi, October 26 (Daily Kiran) : Former South African cricketer Lance Klusener has expressed confidence in the future of Indian cricket, particularly highlighting the potential of young talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Speaking in New Delhi, Klusener praised Shubman Gill as a key player who could lead the team for years to come. He believes Suryavanshi is poised to step into the shoes of legends like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma once they retire.
Klusener emphasized that Indian cricket must embrace its next generation, despite the towering legacies of Kohli and Rohit. “The beauty of cricket is that it keeps evolving,” he remarked. He noted that while it is always a sad day when great players retire, new, fit, and fast talents are ready to take their place.
As the head coach of the Arabian Aces in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, Klusener described Gill as a “real superstar” in batting. He stressed the importance of Gill separating his responsibilities as a captain from his role as a top batsman. “I have complete faith in him. He is the right person for this job,” Klusener stated, adding that learning to balance these roles is crucial for any successful captain.
Gill’s emergence as a leader comes at a critical time for India as they prepare for a future without Kohli and Rohit, who have elevated Indian cricket for over a decade. Although their retirements will leave a significant void, Klusener believes this transition should be viewed as a natural part of the game rather than a threat to India’s competitive edge.
He pointed to the new generation of Indian talent, mentioning Suryavanshi as a prime example. “Every team has to manage retirements differently. India is facing this with its two stars, but cricket continues,” he noted. Klusener is optimistic about the bright future that lies ahead for Indian cricket, with players like Suryavanshi ready to shine.
He concluded by advising Gill to take his time and seek guidance from senior players, gradually taking charge of Indian cricket’s next chapter.
