FM Nirmala Sitharaman to Engage with Students After Budget Presentation

New Delhi: Following the presentation of the Union Budget 2026-27 on February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold a discussion with around 30 college students from across the country, according to an official statement released on Friday.

Under this initiative, the students will have the opportunity to watch the live broadcast of the budget session directly from the Lok Sabha gallery. This experience aims to give them a close view of one of the most important parliamentary proceedings of the year.

The selected students come from various academic fields, including commerce, economics, medical education, and professional courses, representing different states of India.

Additionally, the students will visit the Ministry of Finance located in Kartavya Bhawan-1. They will interact with senior officials to gain insights into the ministry’s functioning, policy-making processes, and the role of institutions in nation-building.

Later in the evening, Finance Minister Sitharaman will engage in an open conversation with the students. The discussion will focus on the key priorities of the budget, its vision for India’s future, and its impact on the youth. Students will also share their views, perspectives, and aspirations regarding youth and the nation.

This initiative aims to increase awareness among students about finance, economics, governance, and democratic processes, while encouraging informed and constructive participation of youth in India’s financial and parliamentary affairs.

During the budget preparation process, suggestions were sought from citizens, including youth, through various platforms. These inputs will be reflected in the upcoming Union Budget 2026-27.

The statement further noted that this dialogue reflects the government’s commitment, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to valuing the aspirations and voices of the country’s youth.
