Five Arrested in Mumbai for Brutal Assault Over Loan Dispute

Mumbai, June 13: In a shocking incident in the Dongri area of Mumbai, a 33-year-old man was brutally assaulted over a loan dispute amounting to two lakh rupees. The victim was held captive for 48 hours, deprived of food and water, and subjected to severe beatings with a leather belt. He was reportedly forced to walk naked in the corridor of a lodge. Within 24 hours of the complaint being filed, Dongri police arrested five suspects involved in this heinous act.

According to police reports, the victim, Sachin Ranpise, had borrowed two lakh rupees from one of the accused some time ago. Due to financial difficulties, he was unable to repay the amount on time and requested a few days’ extension. However, the accused insisted on immediate repayment and plotted to kidnap Sachin.

As per the complaint, Sachin was forcibly confined in Room 104 of MM Residency Lodge near Baba Dargah in Dongri between June 8 and June 10. During this time, he was not given a single morsel of food or a drop of water. The assailants continuously beat him with a leather belt, causing severe injuries to his head, arms, and back. To further torment him psychologically, they stripped him and made him walk in the lodge’s corridor.

On June 11, after managing to escape from his captors, Sachin reported the entire incident to the Dongri police station. Under the guidance of senior officials, the crime detection team promptly initiated an investigation. Initial inquiries did not yield solid leads from CCTV footage; however, with the assistance of local intelligence, police set a trap and arrested all five suspects in the Mazgaon area.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdullah Shaukat Bhusari (21), Junaid Qaimuddin Khan (26), Mohammad Saad Pathan (26), Arafat Hashim Khanani (24), and Sahil Sheikh (25). Police have also recovered some property related to the crime from the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.

The Dongri police stated that immediate action was taken following the filing of the complaint, leading to the swift arrest of all suspects based on technical evidence and local intelligence. A thorough investigation is underway.
