First Shipment of Flavored Iced Tea from Bhopal to Switzerland Marks Milestone for Indian MSMEs

New Delhi, May 23: Indian MSMEs are making a strong mark on global standards of quality and taste. This is evident as the first export shipment of flavored iced tea premix has been sent from Bhopal to Switzerland. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced this on Saturday.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Minister Goyal stated, “The first export shipment of flavored iced tea premix sent from Bhopal to Switzerland is clear proof that Indian MSMEs are now establishing a strong identity based on global quality and taste standards.”

He further added, “This new achievement for the food processing sector in Madhya Pradesh, in collaboration with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, will provide a new direction for innovation, value addition, and export-oriented growth.”

Previously, the minister noted that India has seen a remarkable 93% increase in tea exports over the last decade, rising from ₹4,509 crore in the fiscal year 2013-14 to ₹8,719 crore in the fiscal year 2025-26.

On the occasion of International Tea Day, Piyush Goyal highlighted the growing global appeal of Indian tea, describing it as an emotion deeply woven into the country’s daily life, culture, and traditions.

In his post on ‘X’, Goyal remarked, “Tea is a feeling. What better way to express this on ‘International Tea Day’? Across India, tea is not just a beverage; it is an essential part of daily life, conversations, and traditions. From the hills of Darjeeling to the valleys of Assam and the gardens of Nilgiri, each region infuses its unique flavor, aroma, and style into every cup of tea.”

He continued, “In recent years, Indian tea has also established a strong identity in global markets. This is due to the consistently improving quality standards of tea and the ongoing efforts of the Tea Board, which showcase the richness of India’s tea heritage to the world. Each variety carries the essence of its region, unique taste, and heritage.”
