Fires Erupt at Mangolpuri Furniture Market and Dwarka Snack Factory, Fire Department Responds Swiftly

New Delhi, June 19: Two separate fire incidents in Delhi late Thursday and early Friday caused significant alarm. The first fire broke out in the furniture market located in the S-Block of Mangolpuri, while the second occurred at a snack factory operating under a tin shed near Dwarka Metro Station. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and the fire department managed to control the flames promptly.

The fire at the Mangolpuri furniture market ignited suddenly late at night. Upon receiving the alert, multiple fire service vehicles rushed to the scene to initiate rescue and firefighting operations. Fire Officer Bhupinder Sharma reported that the market consists of a total of 11 shops. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing several vehicles parked behind the shops.

Due to the nature of the market, which housed a large quantity of dry wood, plywood, foam, and other flammable materials, the flames escalated quickly. However, after considerable effort, the firefighters successfully brought the situation under control. Initial reports indicate no injuries or loss of life, although furniture worth millions of rupees and some vehicles were severely damaged in the blaze.

A local resident near the incident site shared, “This was a furniture shop, and we are not sure how the fire started. The incident occurred around 2 AM. The cause of the fire is still unknown.”

In response to public notifications, police and administrative teams arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. Had the fire department not arrived on time, the flames could have spread to nearby residential areas.

Meanwhile, a fire also broke out at a snack factory operating under a tin shed near Dwarka Metro Station. According to the Delhi Fire Service, this was classified as a ‘Make-4’ category fire. After several hours of effort, the fire was extinguished, and all units returned around 3:30 AM. There were no reported casualties in this incident either.
