New Delhi, August 14: A tragic incident occurred near the Kondli turn in Mayur Vihar Phase-3 when a speeding DTC bus collided with a scooter. The scooter was carrying a 12-year-old schoolgirl, Kayna Pal, who was on her way to school with her uncle. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
According to relatives, Kayna was heading to East Point School in Vasundhara Enclave for a program scheduled for August 15. While traveling from Khichripur, the DTC bus, coming from behind, struck their scooter near Dallupura. The impact caused the scooter to topple, and Kayna was caught under the bus, resulting in fatal injuries.
Her uncle, Virendra Singh, expressed his grief, stating that Kayna was like a daughter to their family. He accused the bus driver of negligence, claiming that while his uncle was riding the scooter at a normal speed, the bus was traveling at high speed. Singh alleged that the bus attempted to overtake from the wrong side, leading to the collision. He also mentioned that Kayna’s uncle sustained injuries to his leg and knee during the accident.
Following the incident, a crowd gathered at the scene. Anger escalated when it was revealed that the bus driver had fled, prompting the enraged crowd to vandalize the DTC bus. Police arrived shortly after to manage the situation and are currently investigating the incident while searching for the absconding driver.
