
Mumbai, March 9: A fire broke out in a residential building in Bandra, Mumbai, during the celebration of Team India’s victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Reports indicate that a firework rocket landed on an apartment balcony, igniting a blaze. Fortunately, the fire has been extinguished, and there are no reports of injuries.
The incident occurred late at night as residents celebrated India’s win by lighting fireworks. The rocket fell onto a balcony, causing chaos in the area for a brief period.
Upon receiving the alert, the Mumbai Fire Brigade promptly arrived at the scene to manage the situation. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported from this incident.
Ashish Shelar, a minister in the Maharashtra government and BJP MLA from Bandra West, shared updates about the situation. He posted on social media platform ‘X’ around 3 AM, confirming that a fire had been reported in Nirmala Colony, Bandra West. He mentioned that fire and police teams were on-site to control the situation and that he had spoken with officials to ensure everything was under control.
It is noteworthy that the Indian cricket team clinched the T20 World Cup 2026 title. They defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Batting first, India scored a total of 255 runs and restricted New Zealand to 159 runs, securing their third T20 World Cup title.
